How I know final draft
The song "How I know" by lil durk is a song that makes u think about and question who you surround yourself with. In the chorus it says “How I know if you die for me how I know if you shoot for me how u know if you still love me” which is him asking a questions to someone basically saying how do I know you won’t switch up on me. This poem shows the thoughts of someone who is questioning who he surrounds himself with based on his past. The verses keep the thoughts of sadness, betrayal, and distrust going on.
The first verse continues the idea of betrayal. It says “thought I’d never see the day that you would switch up”. Which is the artist telling how someone that he never thought would do him wrong did just exactly that which is very sad because it makes him question everyone that he surrounds himself with because that person did him so wrong. Sometimes it can be so unexpected that someone could switch up on you after all you have been through with that person, which makes him and me sometimes wonder if I can really trust the people that I trust. Whoever he was rapping about gained his trust and they broke it and made him question if he can trust again. I understand this because in my life people have switched up on me even when they once told me they never would so I connect to this lyric a lot.
In the first verse it also says “How I know if I get jammed you gone keep it real” Which is the artist asking how does he know if he gets in a bad situation that your gonna stay by his side and not switch up. Because if someone switches on u just because something bad happens you shouldn’t be friends with them let alone trust them. In the last verse Lil Durk says, "I don't know if you gon ride, don't know if you gon slide, don't know want me to die" Which is him saying how he doesn't know if you are going to do what he needs you to do when you really need it he also doesn't know if the person wants him to die because with what's happened in his past he feels he can't trust anyone. I relate to this poem a lot because people have switched up on me before and it makes me question everyone sometimes. Just like how Lil Durk was reflecting and asking himself how does he know he can trust the people he's around. The way I try to fix this problem of doubt is I try to take it slow and not trust anyone too fast and if that person trusts me I try to give that trust back, its hard to sometimes but I still never break that trust because I know how negatively it can effect someone's mindset like how it effects mine and Lil Durk's.
